Al-Hijrah School Trust

Principal Al-Hijrah Residential School and College Ziarat.

I consider Al Hijrah as my second home because my parents gave birth to me but Al-Hijrah gave me the sense to differentiate good and bad, right and wrong. I consider myself a son of this great institution and inn-sha-Allah due to Al-Hijrah the future of Balochistan and Pakistan will be bright. I only say that whatever I am and whatever position I am enjoying today in my life is due to Al Hijrah.”

–Shabir Ahmad

Brother Shabir Ahmad belongs to provincial capital of Balochistan; namely Quetta. He attained his primary education from government schools, as his parents could not afford to pay huge fees in private schools for him. Compared to the rest of the province, Quetta has much better government schools although they fail to compete with private schools in quality of education. While his cousins were studying in private schools, Shabir continued his education in government school, as his father was jobless. His uncle used to support his father with some money that always got spent on food, clothing and other necessities of life. Like all other households from poor background, Shabir’s family also considered education a low-priority need compared to food, clothing, shelter and healthcare. While his family was already facing financial woes, the tragic death of his father in 2009 worsened the situation, while he was in HSSC part 1 in Al-Hijrah Residential School & College.

In his desperate circumstances, Shabir’s only hope was the education that he was attaining at Al-Hijrah Residential School & College, Ziarat. Al-Hijrah was a kind of blessing for him that ultimately pulled him and his family out of the circle of poverty. He did his Bachelors in Business Administration (BBA) from Baluchistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences. He did not stop the journey and completed MS in Human Resource Management from Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (ZABIST), Islamabad in January 2017. Right after one month of completing his MS he succeeded to get a job as lecturer in University of Loralai. Currently, Shabir is serving as Chairman of the department of Management Sciences, University of Loralai.
